On Saturday, May 26, M.A.D. Club founder Madison Wagner met with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur at the Ben Franklin Community Garden. Hon. Kaptur was invited to celebrate the official opening of the Ben Franklin Community Garden as gardeners kicked off Memorial Day weekend by planting their plots for the season!
The opening ceremony began around 10 a.m. and included several speakers to get the day started. After that, Hon. Kaptur said a few words before embarking on a tour of Ben Franklin. During this time, Madison had the chance to introduce herself and explain the role M.A.D. Club plays at Ben Franklin.
Hon. Kaptur was delighted to hear about our volunteers' work in the Hunger Gardens as well as M.A.D. Club's many other exciting projects! She and Madison had a great discussion and exchanged contact information in case either needed support for future projects.
Truly a wonderful start to the gardening season! Thank you, Congresswoman, for joining us at Ben Franklin, offering your support and time, and especially for your kind and encouraging words! We hope to see you again soon!
